FAQs- What does weaned mean?
Weaned means completely eating on its own.
What does the weaning time mean?
Weaning time is the amount of time from hatching that it takes to eat completely on its own.
What is seasonal availability?
This is the time(s) of year or the season that a
species is normally weaned and available.
Can you tell in advance exactly when an individual bird will wean?
No, birds wean at individual rates. All we can tell you are average weaning times for the species as shown below in the chart.

With a hatch date you can get an estimate of when a bird will wean but we CANNOT tell you exactly when a baby will be weaned.

Please reserve now with a 25% deposit to assure your position on our waiting list for the 2013 season. Please bookmark this page and check back often for changing availability. The availability of babies is variable throughout the year depending upon the time of year, the weather that particular year, and supply and demand. This guide below will give you the approximate time of the year that babies are available (time the species usually lays eggs and approximate weaning times and weaning months). This is an approximate schedule only and the factors listed above can affect availability. This does not mean that we always have weaned babies ready to be purchased during a given month. Our babies are almost always reserved well in advance of weaning.
If you want to purchase a baby that will be ready to go home during a particular time, we recommend reserving several months in advance, depending upon the species and weaning time.

  EASY AVES

We cannot predict the exact weaning date in advance on an individual baby.
Please note: We DO NOT SHIP the moment a bird is weaned but MAKE SURE it is eating well before we ship. This can delay shipment up to several weeks PAST "average weaning dates". We recognize that birds are individuals and do not force them to wean by any calendar. Please do not expect your bird to be shipped by the average weaning time for its species shown on this chart. We do what is best for each baby. We always keep babies a few days past weaning as we want to be sure the baby will eat after it leaves our nursery.

(incubation time is 24-28 days for most species)
